Convert an image to a DXF file
DXF is a common file format for laser cutters, engravers, plotters, and CNC routers. This free tool traces an image into a clean outline and gives you a DXF file, along with an SVG of the same shape. It works in your browser, with no account and nothing to install.
How it works
- Upload a JPG, PNG, WEBP, or HEIC image by dragging it in or choosing a file.
- Adjust the threshold and edge smoothness until the preview shows the shape you want to cut or engrave.
- Download the DXF for your machine’s software, or the SVG if your software prefers it.
Tips for laser and CNC artwork
Bold shapes with clear gaps between them cut and engrave best. Very thin lines, tiny details, and isolated specks can burn away or be too small for the tool, so use the edge smoothness and speck filter to simplify the outline before you download. Always check the size and scale after importing the DXF into your machine’s software, since programs differ in how they treat units.

Is it free?
Yes. Uploading an image, previewing the result, and downloading the DXF and SVG are free, with no account required.
Do you provide an SVG too?
Yes. Every conversion gives you both files. If you only need an SVG, see PNG to SVG or JPG to SVG.
Do you keep a copy of my image?
No. Uploaded images and the traced output are held on the server for up to 30 minutes to allow processing and download, then deleted — see the Privacy Policy for details.
