Convert a JPG to SVG

This free tool traces a JPG (or JPEG) into an SVG, a scalable vector file you can resize without losing sharpness. It also gives you a DXF of the outline for laser cutters, engravers, and CNC machines. Everything runs in your browser, with no account needed.

How it works

  1. Drag in a JPG, or choose one from your device. PNG, WEBP, and HEIC photos from an iPhone work too.
  2. Look at the preview, then adjust the threshold, edge smoothness, or color mode to taste.
  3. Download the SVG and DXF files.

Getting a cleaner result from a JPG

JPG compresses images by discarding detail, which leaves faint noise around edges. That noise can turn into rough edges or tiny specks when traced. The edge smoothness setting and the speck filter help clean it up. Where you can, start from the largest, highest-quality version of the image, and choose artwork with strong contrast between the subject and the background.

For a drawing, sketch, or logo, results are usually best. For photographs, the output is a stylized, poster-like version of the original. Logos have their own tool, Logo to SVG.

Is it free?

Yes. Uploading a JPG, previewing the result, and downloading the SVG and DXF are free, with no account required.

Will the SVG keep my photo’s colors?

It depends on the color mode you pick. Black-and-white tracing produces a single-color outline, while color mode traces the image in several colors.

Do you keep a copy of my image?

No. Uploaded images and the traced output are held on the server for up to 30 minutes to allow processing and download, then deleted — see the Privacy Policy for details. If your file is a PNG, try PNG to SVG.
