Make an SVG cut file from an image

Cutting machines like Cricut and Silhouette cut along the paths in an SVG file. This free tool traces a drawing, logo, or image into a clean SVG you can upload to your cutting machine’s design software. It runs in your browser, with no account and nothing to install.

How it works

  1. Upload a JPG, PNG, WEBP, or HEIC image, such as a scanned drawing or a logo.
  2. Preview the outline and adjust the threshold and edge smoothness until the shapes look right.
  3. Download the SVG, then upload it to your machine’s software, such as Cricut Design Space or Silhouette Studio.

Tips for cut files

Simple, bold shapes cut and weed best. Very thin lines and tiny details are hard to weed from vinyl and can tear paper, so simplify the outline with the edge smoothness and speck filter before you download. Check that your software supports SVG import, because some editions of some programs limit it. Our weeding tools guide and cutting machine guide cover the rest of the setup. For a design bigger than your cutting mat, Panel Mode splits it into real-size panels.

Is it free?

Yes. Uploading an image, previewing the result, and downloading the SVG are free, with no account required.

Can I use a logo?

Yes. For logos and line art, Logo to SVG starts from settings tuned for flat artwork. To learn the file format, see SVG vs PNG.

Do you keep a copy of my image?

No. Uploaded images and the traced output are held on the server for up to 30 minutes to allow processing and download, then deleted — see the Privacy Policy for details.
